A MOTORIST has died following a crash on the A456, near Halesowen, in the early hours of this morning (November 7).
West Midlands Police were called to reports of a single-car crash on the A456, Quinton Expressway, at around 2.40am.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has been confirmed dead and his family have been informed.
"The road remains closed for drivers heading into the city as investigations continue."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: “Ambulance staff arrived within four minutes of the 999 call to find a car which was on fire following a collision.
"Despite the swift actions of all three emergency services, sadly nothing could be done to save the motorist, a man, and he was confirmed dead on scene.
“The road remains closed this morning and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.”
The road is closed in both directions between Halesowen and the Old Quinton island.
The road has been shut since the early hours of this morning (Monday, November 7) and reports suggest it may remain closed for some time.
