FIREFIGHTERS at Haden Cross Fire Station are on a mission to ensure people don't go hungry this winter.
Blue Watch has joined forces with Tesco in Cradley Heath and Blackheath's Sainsbury's store for its Winter Food Campaign.
Many more local supermarkets are expected to come on board for the scheme, which encourages shoppers to donate non-perishable items to those in need.
The kind-hearted firefighters will then put food packages together and distribute them during Safe and Well visits.
Firefighter Matt Crawford explained: "We do between two and 10 safe and well visits each week. The main purpose is to ensure people have a working smoke alarm but we thought we'd go that one step further to look after people in our local community by giving them a food parcel ."
The campaign launched today (Monday, November 7) and donations can also be dropped off at the Halesowen Road fire station.
