LEGENDARY tribute band Fred Zeppelin are performing in Old Hill next week.

Fred Zeppelin, named by Kerrang as one of the top ten best live bands, will be playing at the Spring Meadow Club next Friday.

The Midlands-based band have been paying tribute to 1970s rock band for 20 years and have had Kidderminster-born frontman Robert Plant attend three of their gigs.

The four members of Fred Zeppelin are fans and formed The Freds out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin’s music.

Drummer Steve Black, bassist Kevin Brown and guitarist Keith Jenkins formed the band in 1993.

The aim of the band was to reproduce note-for-note the music of Led Zeppelin without dressing up.

The line-up has changed in the last 20 years with vocalist Rob Bloomer being replaced with Steven Gale and bassist Kevin Brown with Elliot Gavin.

The band pride themselves on never playing the same set twice due to the huge volume of Led Zeppelin material available to them.

Fred Zeppelin were invited by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page to attend a charity event of which Jimmy is a patron. Kevin Brown and Steve Black attended and were thrilled to meet and chat with the legendary guitarist.

Also at the party were Roger Daltrey, Julian Lloyd Webber, Leo Sayer and Formula One’s David Coultard.

Fred Zeppelin are real fans and formed ‘The Freds’ out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin’s music.

As their name suggests the band do not take themselves too seriously, they know the praise belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones, and Bonzo.

Tickets cost £8 and for more information visit fred-zeppelin.com.
