PEOPLE are being warned not to get caught out by fraud, scams and rogue traders by Dudley’s Council’s community safety partnership – safe & sound.

The partnership is holding free awareness events at Queens Cross Network, in Wellington Road, Dudley, on Wednesday, April 19, at 10am and 1pm.

Delivered by the council, West Midlands Police, and the Illegal Money Lending Team, the sessions will aim to raise awareness of various frauds, scams and loan sharks, while providing information on reporting incidents and where to get help and support.

Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for community safety, said: “Every year the British public loses billions of pounds to scams and frauds and often these are difficult to investigate and are a real drain on resources.

“Anyone can be a victim, at any age, particularly with the increase in modern technology and online fraud.

“These sessions are aimed at raising awareness to help prevent people falling victims to these ruthless criminals.”
