DUDLEY Council plans to use a CCTV car to clamp down on problem parking around borough schools.
The camera-equipped vehicle will cost £60,000 and is due to arrive this summer.
Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “There are many councils up and down the country that have had success in tackling the issues around illegal parking through the use of a CCTV car and we hope to replicate that success here in Dudley.
"Unfortunately budgets are constantly stretched within the council, but this investment is essential to allow us to investigate more hotspots and make far better use of our enforcement team’s time.
"We will be able to use the evidence to issue fines, which we hope will help eradicate issues outside our schools and ensure children have a safe journey to and from school.”
