ROCK legend Brian Tatler took time out from touring with his band Diamond Head to get a flavour of Stourbridge’s newest coffee bar.

Brian, who is among the most influential rock musicians in the world, was the guest of honour at the opening of The Stage at Base Studios.

The Stage is the latest addition to the wide range of facilities at Base, which provides a host of services for the performing arts, from rehearsal rooms to artist management and mentoring.

Base owner Warren Evans, said: “The Stage is a fantastic new place for people to meet, exchange ideas and talk about their projects or performance.

“It has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with a wide variety of coffee on offer plus snacks and we also have a licensed bar.

“The Stage is not just for aspiring musicians, it is open to anyone to join us for a break, maybe meet up for a business meeting or while you are waiting for a family member or friend who is having a guitar or drum lesson here at the studios.”

Spending time at The Stage may also mean you get to share a coffee and a chat with one of music’s famous names.

The Rufford Road studios are regularly involved in music and video projects with well-known artists including Rick Wakeman, Brian Travers from UB40 or chart-smashing pop rockers Fuzzbox.

Mr Evans' partner in the Stage project, Scott Garrett, added: "We wanted to create a meeting place for people to network in a part of the Black Country where there are lots of businesses and not just from the creative arts.

"The Stage is open from 10am and the Base has facilities for conferences and presentations so we hope this new venture will become a hub for customers from a wide range of industries."
