WEST Midlands Police will not start a police investigation into the alleged misallocation of council houses and land sales at Sandwell Council.

However, the first ever "corruptour" will go ahead on Sunday despite complaints from councillors to the police.

A police spokesman said: “Allegations relating to the allocation of council housing and the sale of land by auction were referred for consideration on January 3.

"The information supplied by Sandwell Council has been reviewed but, based on the material supplied, there is insufficient detail to start a police investigation."

However, the police, how came under-fire for not expanding the original investigation into corruption at the council last year, has not closed the door on further action.

The spokesman said: “We have however asked Sandwell Council if they wish to submit more comprehensive detail then it will be further reviewed to determine whether any police action can be taken.”

The first ever tour of the places involved the alleged corruption in Sandwell will go ahead despite complaints from councillors to the police.

Blogger Julian Saunders, who has handed evidence over to West Midlands Police on multiple occasions, will take people around the town hall, councillors’ homes and properties allegedly sold off cheaply.

He said: "It is ironic that West Midlands Police should take an interest in a small coach tour when they have completely ignored by complaints about SMBC corruption and also physical threats, harassment and vile social media trolling suffered by me and my wife.

"There is one rule for Sandwell Councillors as far as West Midlands Police are concerned and quite another for the rest of us."

The tour starts at 10.30am on Sunday outside Oldbury Council House. Tickets £3.
