A BARTLEY Green man has been charged with a string of burglaries across the West Midlands including a property in Rowley Regis.

Leon Clarke, from Pomeroy Close in Bartley Green, is due in court today in connection with a total of eight break-ins spanning Kings Heath and Northfield, plus Solihull, Sandwell and Wythall.

It’s alleged the 20-year-old targeted two Kings Heath homes on March 23 – Woodthorpe Road and Tudor Close – and struck at an address in Holdgate Road, Northfield, on January 28.

Unemployed Clarke is also accused of three Solihull burglaries, in Lowbrook Lane, Dykens Way and Ferndown Road on February 28, March 23 and March 27, plus a break-in at Uplands Avenue, Rowley Regis, on March 12.

And it’s also claimed he broke into a property in Silver Street, Wythall on 17 March.

He’s been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (May 4).

Clarke was arrested from his home address in the early hours of Wednesday morning (May 3) by detectives investigating a shooting in Bartley Green on Sunday in which a man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm.

He has been bailed on a charge of attempted murder while police enquiries continue.
