STAFF at a Staffordshire vineyard will be uncorking a selection of top-quality produce at its 2017 food and wine festival.

Halfpenny Green Wine Estate is based in Bobbington and produces 14 still and sparkling wines on 30 acres.

The estate will be the venue for the festival on Saturday June 10, where visitors will be able to sample food and drink including produce sold in the estate’s on-site shop.

Estate managing director, Clive Vickers, said: "Each year more and more people visit our site for tours and wine tastings having never tried English wines before - they always leave thoroughly impressed.

"English Wine Week and the Food and Wine Festival give the public a great chance to see why English wine is winning so many awards in international competitions.”

The vineyard has avoided frosty conditions this year which created havoc for many English growers and is expecting a busy summer keeping up with demand for its products which are all made on site.

Halfpenny Green’s Wines are stocked in farm shops, delis and merchants around the extended midlands area, as well as in supermarkets Waitrose and Marks and Spencer in the UK and online.

Halfpenny Green wines have won a range of medals at international competitions in recent years, including a bronze at the IWC Awards for their Tom Hill 2015, as well as silvers for both their Late Harvest 2014 and Pinot Chardonnay 2011. Their Rondo 2014, a 15 per cent full bodied red, picked up a bronze award at last year’s Decanter World Wine Awards.

The Halfpenny Green Wine Estate festival will also showcase more than 50 artisan British gins stocked in the shop’s wine loft.
