A DEDICATED Rowley Regis fundraiser is helping to raise thousands in aid of a young girl who has terminal brain cancer.

Rasham Singh Dulai is to take part in a sponsored five mile walk around Sandwell Valley on Sunday, July 9 at 2pm, which will be followed by a charity event in Rowley Regis in August.

He is aiming to raise £5,000 for seven-year-old West Bromwich girl Maddison Seeney, who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme – a cancer rare in children and more commonly found in adults aged over 50.

Her mum Cherrie, who has arranged the walk, is looking to raise money to make Maddison's last few months as happy as possible through short trips and weekends away.

Mr Dulai has so far raised more than £2,300 of his target. As well as taking part in the walk, he has organised a fundraising evening at the Three Diamonds Bar & Grill in Rowley Regis.

The evening, on August 12 from 7pm to 1am, will feature a DJ, Indian food and a raffle with a host of prizes. Mr Dulai added he was still looking for more donations of prizes for the event. Tickets cost £1 or six for £5.

The 53-year-old is also travelling around the Black Country and wider West Midlands selling raffle tickets for the cause.

He said: “Sadly, Maddison’s cancer is terminal and there is no cure. We hope that the treatment she is undergoing will slow down the rate the cancer is growing.

“There is no guarantees that the treatment would work but we are hopeful and willing to try and prolong her life as much as possible.

“We hope it will be possible to take Maddie on trips and short weekends away when she is not feeling poorly to help keep that big smile on her face. We just want to make whatever time she has left as special and happy as possible.”

Mr Dulai has previously done charity work across the UK and in India. He has volunteered for the Midland Langar Seva Society, which feeds about 11,000 homeless people in the UK and in other countries.

He is currently a member of Christian organisation Face to Face which supports people with a variety of problems such as anxiety or depression.
