AFTER almost 200 cyclists saddled up last year, the annual Halesowen One Hundred Cycling Sportive is set to get underway once again.

Halesowen Athletic and Cycling Club will host the event on Sunday, August 27, with organisers hoping to bring in plenty of cash for local causes in the process.

The event involves riders following a clearly marked route from the club’s Manor Abbey Stadium out into the Staffordshire and Worcestershire countryside, before looping back to the finish with a circuit of the clubs velodrome.

This year’s course will offer riders a choice between a long 64 mile or a shorter 39 mile route, in a bid to attract all levels of cyclists.

Sportive organiser Paul Barker said: “Last year’s event raised over £1,000 pounds for the Compton Hospice and we hope to raise a similar amount for this year’s chosen benefactor.”

Entry for the event is now open at https://tinyurl.com/ya6z7ffo where further information about the route as well as entrance fees is available.

The club will provide a range of facilities throughout the day, including refreshments, a licensed bar, and showers.
