FOLLOWING the death of young Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery – who hit the headlines this year during his fight against a rare type of cancer – Brierley Hill footballers have decided to fundraise in his memory.

Youth football team Brierley Hill Bullets, who play in the Stourbridge League, wanted to pay their own tribute to the six-year-old by raising funds to support other youngsters with Neuroblastoma.

Bullets manager Chris Coombes said: “We were all deeply saddened at the passing of Bradley that the players wanted to do something to raise money.

“The players thought about what they wanted to do and decided to hold a raffle, with the first prize being a West Bromwich Albion goalkeeping jersey, signed by England international Ben Foster.

“It was a great prize and something we knew would be able to raise a lot of money to support other children with Neuroblastoma.”

The lucky winner of the shirt was Clare Taylor, a teacher from the Meadows Sports College in Oldbury.

Chris added: “We were able to raise £510 for the Bradley Lowery Foundation, which is a great amount, and we would like to thank everyone who made a contribution to a very worthy cause.”
