A CHARITABLE pub is hoping to honour the life of tragic Stourbridge footballer Ryan Passey by donating the proceeds of its quiz this Wednesday evening to Ryan’s family.

The town’s Wetherspoon pub The Chequers Inn will hold a quiz in aid of the Passey family from 7.30pm tomorrow (August 16).

Andy Moore, duty manager and quizmaster at the High Street pub, said: “All entry fees paid will be donated by us to the family as a way to honour the memory of Ryan Passey.

“Obviously this tragedy has hit the community hard and we want to do our part to show solidarity to the family, and help honour Ryan’s memory in any way we can.”

Entry to the quiz costs £1 for each person participating and there is no restrictions on team sizes.

Andy added: “Top prize is a free meal for the entire winning team – which is a slight change to our usual cash prize as we want to raise as much money for the family as possible.”

Ryan, aged 24, (pictured below) was fatally stabbed in the chest in the early hours of Sunday, August 6, at Chicago’s nightclub.
