DUDLEY Zoo’s mascot Jambi the tiger thinks the new wheelchairs at Russells Hall Hospital are grrr-eat.

Donations to The Big Push campaign are coming in thick and fast and so far we’ve raised £7,414 - enough for 12 wheelchairs.

One of those chairs has been sponsored by Dudley Zoo, so assistant curator Jay Haywood brought Jambi to the Dudley hospital to test it out.

The tiger, who arrived wrapped up in bandages for the occasion, gave the £600 chair a huge thumbs up.

Zoo director, Derek Grove, said he hoped the zoo’s chair would “conjure up amusing conversations” when visitors discovered it had been sat in by a tiger.

He added: “Dudley Zoo is proud to lend its support towards the wonderful work of Russells Hall Hospital, which provides fantastic care to our borough’s community.

“We had no hesitation in getting behind The Big Push campaign.”

We’ve still got a long way to go to reach our £30,000 target to purchase 50 additional wheelchairs.
