Two Oldbury schools are celebrating after being recognised for their efforts to help the environment.
St Huberts Primary, on Wolverhampton Road, and St Francis Xavier Primary, on Mckean Road, both gained a Sustainable Schools award from the Department of Education and Skills.
The schools teach issues including consumption and waste, global citizenship and climate change and energy in the classroom and put them into practice.
Pupils are also encouraged to take part in recycling, composting, reducing energy consumption and developing international links.
Work at St Huberts includes composting fruit waste for their own allotment and a fair trade project which supports a school in India.
Councillor Ian Jones, Sandwell's Cabinet member for Children and Young People, said: "I am delighted to see Sandwell's schools gaining such recognition.
"The work they do is extremely valuable both to pupils and society as a whole."
