THE new series of The X Factor has kicked-off with six million viewers – the lowest launch since the show first began in 2004.

The return of Simon Cowell’s ITV talent contest drew an average of six million viewers (32% share), peaking with 6.9 million (36%).

It is a drop from last year’s opener when an average of 6.8 million and a peak of 7.5 million peak tuned in.

ACTOR Damian Lewis and comedian Jack Whitehall have teamed up with stars from the football world to raise funds for people hit by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

The Game4Grenfell at QPR’s Loftus Road stadium, just a mile from the tower, kicked off before a sell-out crowd.

Among those taking part was Homeland actor Damian Lewis, who told the Press Association: “I grew up very close to here and play football in the shadow of the tower every week and have done for 25 years."

TAYLOR Swift has released new single Ready For It, just over a week after she dropped her comeback song Look What You Made Me Do.

The pop star surprised fans as a clip from her upcoming track was played during an American football game between Alabama and Florida State.

DAVINA McCall is Joan Of Arc, Ann Widdecombe Florence Nightingale and Krishnan Guru-Murthy Jimi Hendrix as they channel their “inner rebel” for Stand Up To Cancer.

The stars are promoting the joint fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4.
