CHILDREN at a Halesowen primary school could be future lifesavers after raising money to install a defibrillator in the heart of their community.

Youngsters at Lutley Primary School held a special ‘hearts for hearts’ day where they came to school dressed in red clothes.

Throughout the day, the children took part in various activities, including biscuit making, and were able to raise £480 towards the purchase of a lifesaving defibrillator.

Anne Cox, the school’s complex care practitioner and first aid leader, said: “We are very proud of the children for all their efforts in raising the money.

“The defibrillator has been installed on the outside of our building so it can be used for the whole of the local community, making us a West Midlands Ambulance Service accredited defibrillator site.”

The pupils’ fundraising helped to buy the defibrillator after being topped up with money donated by the Brookwillow Road school’s parents, teachers and friends association (PTFA).
