CHARITABLE walkers are being invited to join an event in the one of Halesowen’s popular parks to raise cash for the BBC Children in Need appeal.

The Leasowes will host a BBC Countryfile ramble on Sunday, October 15, from 10am to 12 noon, as one of thousands of walks being held across the country during the weekend for the charity.

The ramble will be about three kilometres long, taking in most of the picturesque parkland which was famously designed by William Shenstone.

Participants will be led on the walk by wardens at the park, alongside several friends groups associated with the park, including the Friends of the Leasowes, Friends of Coombeswood and the Halesowen Abbey Trust – who have recently formed a larger fundraising and lobbying group together called The Leasowes Green Gateway.

For more information, call the wardens office on 01384 814642, while sponsorship forms can be downloaded from the BBC Countryfile website or picked up from the wardens’ office.

Those wishing to take part– with refreshments available at the end of the walk – are asked to meet on the car park in Leasowes Lane, off Mucklow Hill.
