A QUARTET of students from Halesowen College will be choreographing and dancing at the Birmingham Hippodrome in the new year.

Ellie Baker was selected for curtain raiser performances working with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Motionhouse, and other professional companies on the main stage.

Megan Alebon and Abbie Sanders have been selected for a Foyer Performance Company.

Alarna Parkes has been offered the role of choreographer where she will work with Clare Palethorpe and one dancer from Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures to create a piece based on Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella for primary school children.

The four students had to take part in two intense auditions to achieve their positions and were in competition with students from three other colleges across the Midlands.

Gemma Sherratt, dance course leader at Halesowen College, said: “We are really proud of our students, they have worked extremely hard to secure these prestigious positions.

“We are also really pleased to have built up a good connection with the Birmingham Hippodrome to give our students these fantastic opportunities.”

The curtain raiser performances will take place at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Friday, February 9, and Tuesday, March 13.
