A PAIR of Women’s Institute (WI) groups in Halesowen have been so popular that a third group has been launched and a fourth could start next month.

Based at Halesowen College, the two WI groups currently have about 90 members each who have enjoyed many activities and trips over the past year.

The groups have been on a range of theatre trips, tried out laughter yoga and belly dancing, and took part in many sports including bowls, croquet and darts. They have also launched a craft club, book club and have taken on an allotment.

Elaine Cammies, community participation director for Halesowen College, said: “We all have been astounded at the demand for a WI group in Halesowen and can’t believe we are about to set-up a third group and maybe even a fourth!

“It has been a real success and we are so grateful for everyone’s support. I’m hoping to set-up a Men’s Shed group in the spring too.”

The third WI group meet on the first Friday of the month at 10am, while there will be an initial meeting of a fourth group on Monday, March 5, from 6.30pm at the college’s Whittingham Road campus.
