HERITAGE and local history buffs are being sought to help gather information about Dudley town centre.

Dudley Council wants to recruit reminiscence volunteers for a townscape heritage scheme project, which aims to increase appreciation of the borough’s town centres and its heritage attractions.

The council plans to gather oral information which will be held at the borough’s archives and ensure Dudley’s rich heritage continues to be celebrated for years to come.

Volunteers will be required to record interviews with people divulging their unique stories about the area – covering a variety of topics from historical events, well known people, industry, businesses and general thoughts.

The council is hosting a free training event on Saturday, April 14 from 10am until 3.30pm at the Dudley Archives and Local History Centre in Tipton Road.

No experience is necessary and attendees will find out about the range of opportunities available and how volunteers would be supported and trained.

Places are limited and people must book by emailing viv.webb@dudley.gov.uk or calling 01384 818143.
