MEMBERS of Black Country Women's Aid have thanked generous Rotary club and orchestra members after receiving a donation of £1,000 from the proceeds of a charity concert.

Halesowen Orchestra and Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club teamed up to raise money for the charity which has supported survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence across the region for the past 30 years.

As part of the concert, at Cornbow Hall on March 17, the orchestra performed Mendelssohn's Fingals Cave, Beethoven Symphony No7 and Weber Bassoon Concerto.

The funds raised were handed over at a presentation at Haden Hill House, Cradley Heath, on Saturday (April 28).

Rotary club president John Cartwright said: "The orchestra did a wonderful job of putting on a concert on what was one of the worst nights of the year and Black Country Womena's Aid is a charity which our local Rotary club supports as they provide a much-needed refuge for families and children who are being abused at home. What better local charity could we have?"
