A retired Rowley Regis couple are celebrating after winning a competition to win back the full cash price of their new car.

Geoffrey and Peggy Stanley, of Uplands Avenue, bought their Citroen Xsara car from Black Horse Car Sales in Oldbury.

They filled in a competition card in the car which asked them to think of an advertising slogan for the company.

Geoffrey, 73, said: "I wasn't going to bother filling it in, it was my wife who looked at it and thought about it."

The couple's winning slogan - "Black Horse is a thoroughbred among car sales" - scooped them the £7,410 price of their car and they were presented with their cheque by sales manager Chris Mobley.

Chris said: "We were very impressed with the answer and enjoyed the play on Black Horse and thoroughbred. We hope to be able to use this slogan in future advertising thanks to Mr Stanley's wife."

The money for the car has been a welcome boost for the couple as they have had an eventful few years.

Geoffrey recently fell seriously ill while on holiday in Spain, spending 17 weeks in hospital, five of which were in a Spanish hospital.

Mr Stanley's illness means he can no longer get insurance for holidays abroad, so the couple go away on UK coach trip holidays as well as spoiling their daughter, two sons and three grandchildren.
