Four men – one aged 28, two aged 29 and one aged 32 – were arrested in the area, but they were all released under investigation as enquiries continue.

A fifth man was also arrested, but he was later released with no further action.

Following the incident, a witness who lives on Wesson Gardens told the News it was “quite scary” as there was a low flying police helicopter and armed police and dogs “racing around” the street.

She added: “There were so many police – armed police – ambulances and dogs. Police were telling everyone it wasn’t safe and to stay inside.”

Anyone with information about the incident should call West Midlands Police on 101, giving log reference 121 of 11 May.
