THE Bromsgrove founder of a women’s shotgun club is encouraging more women to try clay pigeon shooting ahead of National Ladies’ Shooting Day.

To mark the occasion, the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club is hosting a women only event at Hereford & Worcester Shooting Ground in Tardebigge on June 9.

Ahead of the event, club founder Victoria Knowles-Lacks, from Bromsgrove, is showing women of all ages that clay pigeon shooting is not just for men.

She said: “We want to show that clay pigeon shooting is not just for men or a certain stereotype - it’s for everyone.

“And with National Ladies’ Shooting Day we open up shooting to women from all walks of life.

“It’s about confidence, camaraderie and a fun few hours of clay shooting under instruction - plus amazing prizes.”

The Ladies’ Shooting Day event, off Brockhill Lane, will give first-time shooters the chance to try the sport, or beginners the opportunity to improve their skills, with help from qualified instructors.

Entry costs £45, including gun hire, 30 cartridges, 30 clays, ear and eye protection plus a free cap and goodie bag.

Established in 2015, National Ladies’ Shooting Day’s mission is to bring women together to enjoy clay shooting, and comprises 22 events across the country.
