A FORMER Mayor of Worcester has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a car crash in which his wife died.
Aubrey Tarbuck, aged 88 from Hallow, was also charged with causing death by careless driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Tarbuck will appear at Telford Magistrates on Tuesday, June 12.
Tarbuck served as mayor in 2005 and was first elected as a Conservative councillor at Worcester City Council in 1966.
Tarbuck and his wife Anne Tarbuck, 88, were involved in a crash on the A458 at Harley, near Much Wenlock in October 2017.
Mrs Tarbuck was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital in a critical condition. She died from her injuries.
There was a father and daughter in the other car, a 4x4. The young child suffered head and chest injuries and was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Mrs Tarbuck lived in Hallow during the later part of her life.
She was the inspiration in Tarbuck picking Worcester Eye Unit as one of his three chosen charities for funding in 2005, revealing that she could have faced blindness without their support.
