HALESOWEN College has secured more than €116,000 of funding so students can continue to get valuable and exciting work experience in Europe.

The college has been given the funding from Erasmus+ where, during the next two years, 48 vocational students will be able to have two weeks work experience in one of their partner European schools in Italy, Germany, Spain or France.

Students have already carried out many placements as part of the programme, with sports students heading to Barcelona, while business and IT students went to Munich and Trento, in Northern Italy.

David Williams, college principal, said: “I am delighted with this fantastic opportunity for our students which allows us to build on existing relationships with our European partner schools.”

Cait Gerrard, a level three IT student, who has recently been on work experience in the IT department of an investment company in Munich, said: “Taking part was a huge benefit for me.

“It gave me an insight into living independently and budgeting my finances. It also allowed me to explore living in a different country and learning a new language along the way.

“The work experience itself made me explore more sides of IT and will help me with jobs in the future.”
