AN unexploded World War Two grenade was found in Cradley yesterday afternoon (Thursday, May 24).
Folloring the discovery, Furlong Lane was closed between A458 Windmill Hill and Overend Road/Butchers Lane.
Police were called to a house in Furlong Lane just after 2pm to reports of a WW2 grenade being found in a garage during a house clearance.
The bomb squad were called to the scene and the road was closed with residents nearby advised to remain indoors.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Furlong Lane, Cradley, just before 2.20pm yesterday to reports of a grenade being found in a garage during a house clearance.
"As a precaution, the explosive ordnance disposal team was called and the road was closed.
"Just before 9pm, the device was examined and found to be inactive."
