YOUNG dancers will perform in the Halesowen town centre this weekend to boost their fundraising quest to appear at the upcoming World Dance Championships in America.

Fifteen pupils aged between six and 13 from Centre Stage Dance Academy have been offered the chance to compete at the 2018 championships in New Jersey, but financial difficulties could mean scupper their chances of attending.

However, the youngsters are hoping townsfolk will dig deep into their pockets and donate during their four performances at the Cornbow Shopping Centre this Saturday (June 2).

Pupils from the school will be performing during slots at 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm in the Hagley Street complex.

Natalie Tierney, principal at the Shell Corner-based school, said her pupils have been given the “chance of a lifetime” to take part in the championships, but they now have only a few weeks to raise the £10,000 needed to get there.

People can also support the dancers and donate online by visiting www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/centrestagedance-academy.
