A Rowley Regis couple, who married when the bride was 17-years-old have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Rosie and Ted Townsend met when they both worked at Ozalid in London.

The happy couple married on August 3 1957 at St John's Church in Middlesex and honeymooned in St Ives in Cornwall.

They relocated to Blackheath in 1961 after the company asked Ted to work in a new branch they had opened in the area.

They have one daughter, two sons and seven grand-children.

Now both retired 67-year-old Rosie and 73-year-old Ted enjoy going away on holidays and working in the garden.

Rosie also enjoys writing poetry and has written a special poem for Ted to mark their milestone anniversary, which she presented him with on the day.

They also both like watching Countdown, and Rosie recently appeared on the show as the audience member who answered the countdown conundrum.

The couple celebrated their special day with a meal out with their family.

They both agree the secret to a happy marriage is "to be friends and treat each other how you want to be treated."
