A STUDENT from Halesowen is set to host a fundraising raffle this weekend as part of her charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro.

Before Emma Fogarty heads off to Tanzania in September to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation, the 19-year-old will hold a raffle in aid of the charity on Saturday (June 9) at Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Park.

Prizes are up for grabs include tickets to a safari park, Boing Zone, Dudley Zoo, and Kidderminster’s Museum of Carpet, as well as vouchers for the Old White Horse and Webbs.

She has also been donated three passes for Black Country Barbell gym, a treatment at Esteem Stourbridge, dinner for two and house wine at The Crabmill, a coffee bag curtesy of Coffee #1, four Cafe Nero coffee vouchers and an intu Merry Hill gift card.

Emma, who grew up in Halesowen and attended Howley Grange Primary School before going on to Earls High School, has currently raised more than £2,400 of her £3,400 target by doing bucket collections, cake sales, fun runs, charity nights out and selling clothes.

The first year biology student at the University of Southampton will take on the mountainous challenge with the university's RAG team.
