PARENTS are being invited to an open day in Oldbury this weekend to help inform families of the options available for students leaving school.
The free event at Sandwell Council House gives parents of year 11 students, as well as unemployed young people, an opportunity to speak to careers advisers about their child’s future.
From 10am until 2pm on Saturday (June 30), people can find out about apprenticeships, sixth form and college courses, while Welfare Rights will also be there to tell people how they can extend their child benefit or tax credits.
The event is funded through Black Country Impact, which helps young adults break down the barriers that may be holding them back from finding work, improving their skills or gaining qualifications.
