HIGH achieving Halesowen students have been celebrated for their outstanding commitment to their studies.

Four students at Halesowen College have won an ‘Access to Higher Education Learner Award’ after the college made the nominations to the Open College Network West Midlands.

All of the students – who also claimed a £500 prize – are adult students on the college’s Access Course which leads to higher education courses at university.

Daniel Cooke and Keeley Goddard won ‘Outstanding Academic Achievement’ awards and are now set to study adult nursing at Wolverhampton University and psychology at Aston University respectively.

Chelsea Taylor and Emma Byrne achieved ‘Outstanding Commitment to Study’ awards and will respectively read mental health nursing at Aston University and children’s nursing at Birmingham City University.

Hilary Gardner, from Halesowen College, said: “It is really great news that four of our students have been given awards for their commitment and achievement.

“Congratulation to them all and we all wish them well in their future courses and careers.”
