THOUSANDS of people danced the day away at a fundraising festival organised by Mary Stevens Hospice.

More than 4,500 people attended SummerFest at Himley Hall on Sunday.

Live bands and performers entertained crowds ahead of sets from headline acts Lemar, Reggie 'n' Bollie and Matt Terry.

Supporters also enjoyed a food festival, a car show sponsored by Stourbridge Vauxhall Motor House, meet and greets, a market, rides and a FanZone with a big screen showing both the Wimbledon men's final and World Cup final.

Event organiser, Laura Amy, said: “Looking out and seeing so many people with smiles on their faces, dancing and making memories with their families is a memory that everyone involved will treasure for the rest of their lives.

"It was a truly wonderful day for our community, and we'd just like to say how grateful we are for their support of the families relying on our care here at the hospice."

She continued: "It's a big ambition, but we want SummerFest to become this area's festival and an event that the community both looks forward to and is proud to say is theirs. Work started six weeks ago on the 2019 event and we can't wait to show everyone what we've got in store for the next one.”
