COUNCIL chiefs have created a two minute film to help promote Dudley's top attractions.

Entitled 'Discover Dudley' the film highlights venues such as Dudley Zoo and Castle, the Black Country Living Museum and intu Merry Hill.

The film also focuses on parks, canals and green spaces in a bid to encourage more people to discover everything the borough has to offer.

Cllr Ian Kettle, cabinet member responsible for tourism, said: “I'm immensely proud of the film Discover Dudley. When you see everything the borough has to offer wrapped up in this short film, it's quite remarkable.”

The film provides a whistle stop tour of the borough's attractions as seen through the eyes of a young girl and her family.

They call at the Black Country Living Museum before dropping in on lemurs at Dudley Zoo before spying on dinosaurs at Dudley Museum.

The family then watch glassblowing at the Red House Glass Zone, take in a show at Dudley Town Hall before gliding through underground tunnels at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust.

That's followed by a visit to intu Merry Hill, hunting for fossils at Wren's Nest National Nature Reserve before finishing with a run across picturesque Himley Park.

Cllr Kettle added: “Dudley borough has so much going for it. We were a key part of the past, playing an important role in the industrial revolution and the glass industry – but we continue to look forward.

“We're teaching new skills, bringing on the next generation of geologists, protecting endangered animals and running first class attractions.

“The borough is a great place to visit and I hope this film also serves as a reminder to local people to make the most of what's on their doorstep.”
