AN ‘ANTIQUES Roadshow’ style valuation day is coming to Halesowen this week, with Lockdales auctioneers on the lookout for a range of collectables.

The auctioneers are calling for residents to bring along their coins, stamps, clocks, watches, gold, militaria, cigarette-cards, pre-1960 sports programmes and tickets, and scientific instruments to the event at Lifecentral Church on Wednesday (August 8).

During the valuation, people will have the option – if they wish – to consign their goods to be sold in a future public auction, or request a cash purchase offer from Lockdales themselves.

Dan Daley, director at Lockdales, said: “The valuation days are a great way for us to find unique and interesting items from the public.

“We have conducted hundreds of valuation days all over the UK and often turn up some very rare items at these events.

“At one event, a unique gold coin from the Dark Ages, was brought along where the owner was not aware of the value of it.

“We later sold it on its owners’ behalf at auction for over £19,000.”

Valuations at the event, which will take place from 11am until 3pm, will be provided entirely free of charge, without any obligation to sell.

Lockdales are also looking for people to bring banknotes, watches, silver, pre-1900 books and maps, medals and postcards to the valuation event.
