A KINGSWINFORD couple are current Guinness World Record title holders after filling a giant Connect Four board at intu Merry Hill.

Rachael and Tom Davies worked together to complete the board in a speedy 57.49 seconds at the weekend.

“Getting the chance to set a world record isn’t something you’d usually expect to achieve when visiting your local shopping centre," Rachael said.

“The atmosphere at intu Merry Hill was brilliant and it was great to see people of all ages and ability try their hand at the different challenges.

"Completing a Connect Four board will definitely be my party trick now.”

It was initially thought Kidderminster pals George Barker and Mark Harris had taken the Connect 4 title, but their best attempt was 68 seconds.

Arun and Reuben Jones from Lincoln also set a new world record at the weekend after they caught 29 beach balls in a minute whilst blindfolded.

Shoppers were also able to fly solo and attempt to throw the most plastic bottles at a target in 30 seconds over the weekend but no-one managed to beat the current record.

Robert Pickersgill, marketing manager at the Brierley Hill shopping centre, said: “Our events programme is all about bringing families together and setting Guinness World Records titles was a fantastic way to do that."
