A YOUNG Halesowen humanitarian is appealing for the help in taking her on a school volunteering trip to Tanzania.
Ellie Tisdale, a year 10 student at Earls High School, is being given the chance to volunteer at two schools – Umonga Secondary and Kaloleni Primary.
She said: “During my time, I will help with multiple things, such as teaching the children English, helping decorate the school, assisting teachers with lessons and many more helpful tasks.
“The main task of this trip will be to help build extensions to these schools, so the children will have more space to grow and learn – just like we do in the UK.”
But the youngster first needs to raise the funds to enable her to take part in the “once in a lifetime” visit to help children “less fortunate than us”, which she is hoping to achieve through an upcoming event at her home.
Ellie and her family will hold a garage sale, cake sale and tombola from 11am until 3pm on Sunday, August 19, at 52 Hazeldene Road.
Anyone who would like to donate their unwanted items to the sale should call 07598 202709, or email christisdale70@googlemail.com.
