FUNDRAISING footballers have helped a Rowley Regis pub score a big donation for a testicular cancer cause.
The Hawthorns’ football event – which transcended from a conversation that was started at the bar – was able to raise more than £700 for charity.
In just a couple of weeks, the conversation turned into a full blown charity fundraiser, including a football match, prize raffles and a buffet, thanks to the help of the pub’s group of locals, in particularly Matthew McSwiggan and Nathan Brown.
A spokesman for the Ross-based pub said: “We wanted to say a big thank you to all who came down to support our charity football event from everyone here at The Hawthorns.
“We had great community support and would love to hold more stuff like this.”
