FORMER students of Brierley Hill Grammar School are travelling from far and wide to attend an upcoming reunion.

Organisers are trying to track down ex-pupils who attended the sixth form between 1967 to 1969, to mark 50 years since leaving the Bromley Lane school – which was transformed into the Crestwood School in the 1970s.

James Morgan said: “So far around 40 people have agreed to attend. Some travelling from the south coast others from the Scottish Highlands and one lady coming from Australia.

“Even a handful of teachers have agreed to come along to represent the staff room.

“But we are trying to contact old – or perhaps some would say very old – pupils who left the sixth form between 1967, the summer of love, and 1969, when man walked on the moon for the first time.

“Robert Sharratt and Pat Mason have searched their attics and located some of their old school uniform and – despite the adverse effect on their street cred – have agreed to be photographed, in the hope that the images might jog memories and prompt a few more students to come along and enjoy an afternoon of nostalgia.”

The event will be a buffet lunch taking place in October at the Old Leaking Well at Ombersley.
