SHOCKING footage of cars racing down Manor Way, Halesowen, has been shared on twitter.

Aprill Roberts tweeted the five second footage which shows two cars tearing down the A456 Manor Way at night.

The speed of the cars is so high that it sounds like they are on a race track.

Ms Roberts tweeted the video, tagging in West Midlands Police.

She tweeted: "Manor Way Halesowen.

"Sick of these offenders."

James Morris MP has met with residents, police and council officials and is backing calls for something to be done to tackle the problem.

A petition on Change.org has attracted more than 500 signatures from residents worried someone could be killed.

The petition on change.org states that the car cruisers are "making life in Halesowen miserable" with the noise disturbing people's sleep and calls for cameras and speed controls.

James Morris said: "Over the coming weeks I will continue to work with local residents, councillors and the local police to ensure that this issue has a long-term resolution."

Rachel Palmer, local resident and petition organiser said: "It is important that we report incidents to the police and stop it from happening."

One person who signed the petition states: "It's against the law. Stop this now or are we waiting for a fatality before action is taken.

"I live in Manor Way, every weekend the dual carriageway turns into a racetrack, the noise at night is horrendous."

Police on a patrol of Manor Way in response to concerns over racing issued eight fines for breaches of Covid-19 rules on Friday March 5.
