A Rowley Regis Councillor has vowed to save a landmark church clock after it broke down.
The Halesowen News recently reported how the 85-year-old timepiece on St Giles' Church stopped working before Christmas, stuck fast at ten minutes to ten, with the congregation left with a £900 repair bill.
Assistant Curate, Reverend Paul Hinton, launched an appeal for donations from the community to try and raise the cash to fix the broken pendulum, however after reading the article in the News, Councillor Iris Boucher has vowed to help raise the money.
Councillor Boucher said: "I am lobbying the Rowley Regis Town Team to donate a major contribution to the appeal, at least £300, because this is an important landmark in Rowley Regis.
"It is right at the top of Rowley Hill, and I am determined to get it going again with the help of the town team.
"We need this clock, it is Rowley Regis, we will save it and get it working again."
Anyone who would like to support the clock repair fund can do so by dropping contributions through the letterbox at the Vicarage, 192 Hanover Road, Rowley Regis, B65 9EQ.
Cheques should be made payable to the Rowley Regis PCC' and marked on the back Clock Repair Fund'.
