A meeting into controversial proposals which protestors say will destroy Halesowen green belt as part of a developer's bid to sell land for houses was set to take place last night (Wednesday).
Developer St Modwen organised the meeting into its bid to sell Coombs Wood Sports and Social Club site in Coombs Road for housing.
The firm is proposing to build a new club including a cricket pitch and bowling green on nearby fields which form part of the Coombs Wood green wedge.
Residents are up in arms at proposals and say the fields are home to wildlife and are a designated Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC).
Scores of protestors were expected to flock to the meeting at Olive Hill Primary to air their views.
St Modwen has not submitted a planning application to Dudley Council on proposals - it has agreed to hold the meeting first to see what local people think.
