A MAN suffered serious injuries when he fell from a bridge onto the M5 at Quinton.
The man fell from a bridge near junction 3, close to the junction with the A458 Hagley Road West, at around 4.58pm last night (Tuesday September 13).
The incident closed the M5 northbound between junctions 3 at Quinton and 2 at Oldbury as police and paramedics attended and motorists were advised to avoid the area as tailbacks built up.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a patient who had fallen from height near to junction 3 of the M5, close to the junction with the A458.
"One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.
"On arrival we discovered one male patient who was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The M5 was closed between Quinton and Oldbury last night after a man fell from a bridge.
"He was treated by ambulance colleagues."
Delays built between Frankley Services and junction three with motorists advised to avoid the part of the motorway or allow extra journey time.
National Highways tweeted about the incident at 6.23pm.
They tweeted at 7.28pm that the motorway had reopened but warned that there were still delays.
