Firefighters were called to Cradley High school following a suspected arson attack last night.
Crews from Cradley Heath and Brierley Hill attended the Homer Hill Road site after a blaze broke out in a classroom shortly after midnight.
It is thought it began after a firework was pushed through a door, setting fire to a cabinet.
Deputy headteacher Tony Clayton said the classroom had been left with smoke damage, but insisted the incident would not cause any disruption to lessons.
Tony said: "It is unfortunate but at the same time we do not need the room.
"The fire did not spread outside the room and we should be able to clear it up."
