Folk club moving to bigger premises

2:53pm Wednesday 7th May 2008

Due to popular demand an established Wordsley folk club is moving to premises in Blackheath.

Crystal Folk Club will move from the Bird in Hand pub in Wordsley to larger premises at the Liberal Club, 51, John Street, Blackheath.

The club welcomes singers and musicians to perform all types of acoustic music. It will meet weekly at the new premises from tomorrow, Friday (May 9), at 8.30pm.

Over the years the club has been host to big folk names such as Tony Rose, Bob Fox and Pete Coe.

Organiser Anne Adams and her husband Bob have run it for the past nine years. She said: "It is with egret we have made the decision to move as the landlord of our present venue has been more than welcoming. But we feel there was a need for larger premises and the Blackheath venue will put the club at the heart of the increasingly popular folk scene in the area."
