AN online fundraiser has been set up following the tragic death of a much-loved dad-of-four who lost his life after a workplace incident at an Oldbury factory.

Craig Pearson suffered serious injuries in the incident yesterday (March 8) at Fire Protection Recycling Limited in Pearsall Drive, Oldbury.

The 37-year-old was treated at the scene before taken to the region’s trauma unit but tragically he passed away.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the West Midlands Care Team, a BASICS doctor and the Midlands Air Ambulance to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 1.38pm and a spokesperson said: “On arrival, crews found one patient, a man, with serious injuries.

“He was treated by ambulance staff before being conveyed by ambulance on blue lights to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment.”

Loved ones, however, have since confirmed he died of his injuries – leaving those who knew him heartbroken.

A Go Fund Me page has now been set up to help raise money to support Craig’s family and cover funeral costs – and it has already topped £1,000.

Nick Farmer, who set up the fundraiser, said: “Craig was a loving fiancé and devoted father. He was a special son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

“He was recently engaged and besotted by his children.

“He leaves behind many who will treasure the memories they hold of him including his daughter, step-daughter and the two young boys who have just lost their dad.”

He added: “The purpose of this Go Fund Me is to raise money to support Craig's family with funeral costs to allow him to have the send-off he deserved. Any remaining funds will be split between his children to help support them through this terrible, terrible time.”

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the tragedy and a spokesperson said: “We are aware of this incident and currently investigating.”
