STAFF and customers at a Halesowen opticians have joined the international efforts to raise funds for the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal.
Donations have been rolling into the Specsavers store in the Cornbow Shopping Centre for a final fundraising total raised of £662, including a contribution from the store directors.
Staff dressed in red to draw attention to their fundraising efforts, collecting donations from colleagues and members of the public in red buckets.
Store director Nabil Habibullah said: "We wanted to show our support for this worldwide fundraising effort to help the people caught up in the awful events of the past few weeks.
"As with our previous fundraising events, we have found the Halesowen community to be very supportive of our efforts and we thank them for their generosity this time as well."
In the early hours of Monday 6 February 2023, a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Turkey's border with northern Syria killing thousands of people and turning buildings into rubble.
Over 47,000 people are reported to have been killed and more than 70,000 injured.
The earthquakes are estimated to have directly impacted 23 million people.
