COMPLAINTS about the booking system for appointments at a Rowley Regis doctors' surgery have led to the local MP getting involved.

People have raised concerns about the booking of appointments at Regis Medical Centre to James Morris MP.

The surgery on Darby Street has introduced a new online system called Anima - which has been slated as an "absolute shambles."

James said he has had regular meetings with staff at the surgery, with the latest on January 12.

He said on social media: "Following concerns from a number of residents, I have held regular meetings with Regis Medical Centre over the last few months raising issues around the booking of GP appointments and their new booking system.

"I met with them again for an update and am pleased that patients concerns have been listened to and work is continuing to review the current system.

"I will be meeting again with them in March for a further update and will report back."

People commented on the post expressing their dismay.

One said: "I have all but given up with the Anima system of booking - I cannot get logged on as it just keeps going around in circles!!!

Another said: "I'm shocked at how bad it is & I must confess, I'm less reassured than James Morris that the 'new' system is being reviewed because frankly, it's been around for a while now and I suspect the issue is deeper than a badly designed app.

"My family's experience is that whether you try to ring or use the app, even at 8am sharp, you will wait in a v long queue, even up to an hour to finally get through to repeatedly hear all appointments are gone so try tomorrow.

"Try again tomorrow - same again.

"So it seems that the underlying problem is just that there are not enough appointments available."

One commentator said: "Thank you for getting involved James, it's an absolute joke, the people who invented that Anima system must have had a very warped sense of humour."

Another said: "This definitely needs sorting out, it's absolute shambles.

"Just get rid of the Anima system all together and go back to the old ways of booking appointments."

Regis Medical Centre has been contacted for comment.
