THE "botched" implementation of a new appointments system at a Rowley Regis doctors surgery has been raised by MP James Morris in Parliament.

James raised the issue of the Anima booking system at Regis Medical Centre which he said has led to patients "not being able to get an appointment and not being able to get the treatment they needed."

He said the implementation of the system had been "botched."

He told Parliament today (Tuesday January 23): "Many of my constituents who used the Regis Medical Centre have been left angry and frustrated by the botched implementation of an Anima booking systme leading to them not being able to get appointments and not being able to get the treatment they need.

"Would the Secretary of State meet with me to discuss how we can learn lessons from this botched implementation and to make sure trust in that GPs' surgery is restored?"

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Victoria Atkins responded saying she would meet with him.

James said on social media afterwards: "Today was Health & Social Care Questions in the House of Commons, and following my recent meeting with the Regis Medical Centre and the ongoing issues either the Anima system, I raised the issue with the Secretary of State.

"Whilst I welcome the review being undertaken by the Practice it’s important that lessons are learnt, and I’m pleased the Health Secretary agreed to meet with me to discuss this further."

One commentator responded saying: "Credit to you James.

"We appreciate you highlighting this problem."

The surgery on Darby Street has introduced a new online booking system called Anima - which has been slated as an "absolute shambles."

James has had regular meetings with staff at the surgery, with the latest on January 12.
